The Parkinson Net project consists in developing a
nationwide digital network to provide a common software application to all federated associations in the Spanish territory.
Such a network is ambitious since it aims to cover all the needs of
management and
communication that the associations require to be able to cater adequately for the affected and their families.
The application not only allows the management of administrative tasks of the associations but
supports and helps professionals in the course of rehabilitation (physiotherapists, speech therapists, music therapists ...), social workers and psychologists in case tracking and analysis of problems.
Parkinson Net incorporates technology for
remote patient care and for
collaboration between professionals from different associations.
The project was led by the
Spanish Parkinson Federation and in it worked the
Madrid Parkinson Association, because of its experience in implementing technology into their daily processes, and other Parkinson's associations nationwide. Ártica Telemedicina collaborated on the technical part with the technological support necessary for its analysis, development and deployment.
The project was awarded in 2007 with the Avanza Plan First Prize in the category "Inclusion in the Information Society: Elderly and Disabled."
